Quality of Language – Carissa
I used the theme “submarines,” and the words “rise,” “swivel,” “sink,” and “sneak.” It was really difficult to follow every direction that the app gave me and to connect all of those ideas back to submarines, so I allowed myself to choose which ones I wanted to include in the piece. Choreographing this piece was challenging, but it was a lot of fun!
I used the theme “Religion”, which gave me the words “genuflect”, “pray”, “heal”, and “rise”. To further challenge myself, I chose to pick my Body/Effort/Space/Relationships randomly, scrolling through the list and picking what I landed on in the app. This worked out well in some spots– “pray while kneeling”–and also presented some interesting quandaries–“rise while widening”.
